Central Bank announces auctions

The Central Bank of Iceland has announced measures to sell Icelandic krónur for foreign currency to parties that have decided to invest in the Icelandic economy or in Icelandic Treasury bonds for at least five years.  Two auctions will be held the 15th of February 2012:

1) Investors will be able to buy ISK for Euros for up to 50% of their intended investment.  The remaining 50% must be purchased on the on-shore market through domestic financial institutions.   Only investors that have signed the Terms of foreign exchange transactions according to he Investment Programme are authorised to participate.

2) The Central Bank offers to purchase Euros in exchange for Treasury bonds RIKS 30 0701.  The Trasury bonds must be held for five years from the date the offer is accepted.

In both auctions the maximum price will be ISK 240 pr. Euro.  All accepted offers will be offered to investors at the same price and the highest accepted price will determine the auction price.
